Located within the Yogyakarta province, Yogyakarta city is known as a center of classical Javanese fine art and culture such as batik, ballet, drama, music, poetry and puppet shows. It is also famous as a center for Indonesian higher education. At Yogyakarta's center is the kraton, or Sultan's palace. We visited it, and it was both thumbs down... But other parts of the city were quite charming, despite us having to dodge a multitude of batik pushers.

CERITA DARI GUNUNG SEMPU PASCA GEMPA Sekitar pukul 7.00 WIB Pasca Gempa 27 Mei 2006, kondisi sepertinya sudah mulai tenang. Warga mulai melakukan aktifitas rutin pagi hari seperti mandi dan membersihkan rumah. Maka Ibu, Aunty dan mbak Karni menyiapkan mandi Vari di halaman belakang rumah. Baju ganti juga disiapkan di luar, karena kami belum berani berlama-lama di dalam rumah. Selesai Vari mandi dan Ibu bungkus dengan handuk, terdengar suara ramai orang berteriak-teriak "Airnya naiiik!!!! Airnya naik!!! Tsunami!!!" kontan Ibu menggendong Vari yang hanya berselimut handuk lalu berlari sambil menyambar pakaian ganti. Ketika kami sampai di depan rumah terlihat ribuan orang dari kampung sekitar kompleks mulai nenek-nenek, kakek-kakek, ibu hamil, dan orang-orang muda berbondong-bondong berjalan, menaiki motor ataupun mobil mendaki bukit Sempu (keterangan: perumahan Gunung Sempu tempat tinggal kami adalah daerah perbukitan yang merupakan daerah tertinggi di wilayah kami). I took a 6 day trip during Idul Fitri 2008 from Bali i flew to Yogyakarta caught a bus to Borobudur, stayed in the grounds of the temple at the Manohara Hotel and rode a pushie around town. Then i went back to Yogyakarta had a wow of a time (including a performance of the Ramyana at the Prambanan Temple) and then flew to Surabaya before returning to Bali. I have coupled this with a soundtrack of pure Indonesian punk, crust punk metalcore with Citra OD by Superman Is Dead (Bali's first and foremost) taking us through 'Jogja' and Penindasan by Borgolkill (from Pasuruan, East Java) to guide you through Surabaya, Funnily enough also in East Java.....

The International Federations community-based early-recovery programme has supported tens of thousands of quake survivors to take control of their own recovery. With support from trained Red Cross volunteers and students from local universities, affected communities have managed and implemented the construction of more than 14000 quake-resilient transitional shelters. The earthquake-resilient shelters are made out of local materials such as bamboo and rope and cost the equivalent of around 185 Swiss francs ($150 USD/ €118). They can be constructed in four to five days and should last up to six years. Shelter is a critical determinant for survival in the initial stages of a disaster. Beyond survival, shelter is necessary for security and personal safety, protection from the elements and resistance to ill health and disease. This video clip was taken from KLA-Project old album. This video clip tells the story about the Jogjakarta's city life (in romantic way). even the condition is not the same right now, cos there's alot of changes, but in most important part, like Taman Sari, Tample, Tugu, Square (aka Alun-Alun) etc, there're still remain the same. You can call Jogjakarta the city of tradition, combined the pure traditional and high-intelligent life and sociality. It's always touch my heart when I listen or watch this video, cos this city is in my blood hehe... there's so much memories live in there (yes ofcourse, I live in there dude hehe...lol), while now im so far away from there...(really miss it...) Nice song, place, music and clip video, then try to go there...one of heaven that god ever made! PS: Ayo muleh dab! haha...lol :D

The Bird Market in Yogyakarta Indonesia is not just an ordinary bird market. It's a fascinating and buzzing place full of energy and life. All kinds of animals live and/or die here amongst people, who are also trying to make a living. We wanted to take a quick look at the market, but then stayed for over an hour. Luckily, a friendly local took us along and showed us around - and he also told us a little about himself. I took my camera and started filming...here's the result!
